Join Us for Worship

Sundays at 10:30 am  In-Person Eucharist

Worship in community defines our relationship with God and each other. Sunday morning is our main gathering time.

Our worship format is guided by the Anglican Church of Canada's Book of Alternative Services, which immerses us weekly in the Bible and draws devotional language from the earliest church through to modern times. Everyone is welcome!

What we do & how we pray What we believe
About Holy Week

Holy Week is an extended meditation on Jesus's death and resurrection. Experience the story of our salvation this year at St. Columba.

  • Palm Sunday follows Jesus into Jerusalem where he will be crucified. The people proclaim him as king, but he makes it clear that his kingship is of an entirely different nature.
  • On Maundy Thursday, we sit with Jesus and his disciples on the last night before he dies, hearing his command to love one another and praying with him as he prepares for death. ('Maundy' comes from mandatum (Latin) which means command.)
  • Good Friday takes us to the cross, where we meditate on God's self-giving love for our salvation.
  • At the Great Vigil of Easter, we travel with Jesus through salvation history to the dramatic moment of the Resurrection, where 'early in the morning on the first day of the week' (John 20:1), Jesus breaks the power of death and rises to a new creation.
  • Easter is a joyful celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and of new life in him. It's the beginning of a jubilant fifty-day season of living into what it means that God defeated death, our greatest enemy. We look with hope and gratitude toward the day when God's healing power will renew God's whole creation.

St Columba rests on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route of the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.
